No.1

App in the travel category

Our partnership with Atomic has been essential in delivering a new level of digital convenience for our guests. The app enriches each stage of their short break, aligning perfectly with our commitment to offering the best possible guest experience.

The challenge

Support guests to get the most from their holiday, from planning and arrival through to dining, activities, and departure.

As the UK’s leading forest holiday provider, Center Parcs wanted to improve the way guests planned and experienced their stays across six unique villages.

The goal was to create a bespoke mobile app that could support the full guest journey, from booking activities to navigating the site, while integrating smoothly with the brand’s existing systems. The challenge lay in designing a feature-rich experience that felt intuitive, inclusive, and genuinely helpful to guests.

Four smartphone screens display a vacation booking app showing a booking summary, detailed reservation info, an activity itinerary, and a map of a forest resort with points of interest.

The solution

A native mobile app with deep system integration, intuitive navigation, and real-time features that support guests before, during, and after their stay.

Atomic began with in-depth customer research and technical planning, placing the guest experience at the heart of the design and development process.

The result was a native app for both iOS and Android platforms, fully integrated with Center Parcs’ booking and guest management systems. Guests can now check in online before they arrive, book activities and dining in advance, and view detailed information about their accommodation, opening hours, and restaurant menus.

A real-time interactive map helps visitors navigate the Village with ease, whether they’re walking or cycling. The app also provides itinerary management, giving guests a clear view of their schedule and upcoming activities. Automated push notifications keep users informed throughout their stay, helping them make the most of every moment.

Designed with accessibility in mind, the app functions seamlessly in both light and dark modes, ensuring a comfortable and inclusive experience for all.

Three smartphone screens display a navigation app with a green map background, showing step-by-step walking directions to a destination. Options for walking or cycling routes and start/end buttons are visible.

Compared to previous years, having the app available with all of the information we needed readily accessible made planning, arrival and activities so much easier and removed almost all anxiety from the trip.

The outcome

The much anticipated app proved to be an instant success, with over 70,000 downloads in the first week, quickly topping the Apple app download charts.

Since launch, the app has become a trusted companion for guests and a valuable tool for the business. It enhances the overall holiday experience by making key information and services easily accessible, streamlining planning and communication, and reducing friction across the entire guest journey.

Atomic continues to work with Center Parcs on new features and improvements as part of an evolving roadmap designed to meet the changing needs of guests and maintain the brand’s digital leadership in the leisure space.
