The challenge

Construction manufacturing giant, JCB approached Atomic to help build the tools and software to help them standardise the second hand machinery market place and share best practices around their global dealer network.

The solution

Following in-depth research and workshops with stakeholders, dealership specialists and people from associated industries, we created JCB Optimum - an online marketplace where dealers can buy and sell used machines from across the worldwide JCB dealer network.

Taking a User First design approach, our strategy was to use the most appropriate technology for each use-case. Whether that meant a mobile of tablet device for initial valuations, or a web-based marketplace available in multiple languages. The system was designed with its users in mind, ensuring it was accessible and easy to adopt.

The outcome

JCB Optimum was launched in 2016 and has gone on to sell over £50m worth of used equipment. Over that time, we have implemented numerous new features, including powerful reporting tools that allow dealers to optimise their used machinery and equipment inventory.

Always open marketplace

Dealerships have the opportunity to market their used equipment for resale via a multi-channel approach. Pushing the data to major industry market places as well as JCB.com

Encouraging best practice

Slick and automated machine upload functionality enables JCB dealers to upload and list used machines in a consistent, best-in-class way.

Powerful reporting

JCB Optimum provides dealers with powerful reporting tools and calculators to give them complete oversight of the value of their used machine inventory, sell-through rates, as well as residual value forecasts.
