The challenge
Declining awareness, brand confusion, and a market under real financial pressure.
Nottingham Girls’ High School came to Atomic during a particularly difficult period for independent education. Enquiries were falling, awareness was weakening, and the school was being confused with a neighbouring institution. Affordability pressures and shifting parental attitudes, particularly at Early Years and Prep, were compounding the challenge. Existing digital activity was generating traffic but not the right kind of engagement, and budgets needed to work much harder.
The strategy
Sharper positioning, smarter paid media, and a relentless focus on meaningful engagement.
Working closely with the school’s internal marketing team, Atomic developed a more focused digital strategy built around clearer positioning and stronger differentiation. Paid media budgets were restructured to prioritise quality of enquiry over raw traffic volume. Across paid search and paid social, targeting was refined to reach parents at the right moment in the decision-making journey, with messaging designed to speak directly to the concerns driving their choices.
The results
Conversion volumes transformed across every channel, even as the wider market contracted.
Despite reduced overall search demand across the independent education sector in 2025, Atomic delivered substantial growth in conversions and lead quality. Enquiries increased dramatically year on year, with standout performance across organic, paid search, and paid social channels. The shift in strategy from volume to value paid off, with the school entering the next admissions cycle with stronger pipeline and greater confidence in their digital activity.
