The challenge
Creating a digital sales tool to replace printed collateral and streamline processes
JCB called on Atomic to develop a bespoke tablet application that could be used out in the field by their global sales team. The new platform was to standardise their sales process as well as reducing their reliance on costly printed sales collateral.
The solution
Designing and building a feature-rich, offline-capable sales app for JCB
Discover
Following extensive phases of research, design and product validation, Atomic developed the JCB Hub app. Built for both iOS and Android, the app was also supported by a bespoke web-based admin portal that gave JCB complete control of the system’s content and assets.
As well as presenting key product information, the app also contained powerful features such as in-cab panoramas linked to the device’s gyroscope, and swipe functionality to rotate 3D CGI models of the machines.
Design
The app incorporates a series of calculators that help the salesperson demonstrate the features and benefits of a machine by calculating direct savings and specifying machines to the individual needs of each customer.
Build
With the app being used in some of the world’s most remote locations, the app was built with offline capability, allowing users to download content locally and use it app without being reliant on a permanent internet connection.
Delivery
Making use of mobile technology, we added a number of features to the app, including in-cab panoramas that provide a unique interactive sales experience.
The outcome
Driving global adoption with one of JCB’s most valuable sales tools
Launched in 2011, the app quickly established itself as one of JCB’s most valuable sales tools. This has led to it being rolled out globally across 13 countries, being used daily by JCB’s worldwide dealer network.
