The challenge

Youth Sport Trust approached Atomic to develop a bespoke mobile app that would replace their existing web-based, e-learning platform in order to help parents/guardians of young athletes by providing them with access to targeted educational content.

The solution

Atomic embarked on an in-depth design process focused on refining the existing content from the e-learning platform and designing a mobile experience that would present the information in a more digestible and engaging way. The result was the ‘Performance Parent App’, built natively for iOS and Android.

The outcome

Working to tight timescales, Atomic launched the Performance Parent app ahead of a national British Cycling event scheduled for the upcoming season. The native app continues to be rolled out across other national sporting bodies and will continue to support the next generation of young elite athletes for years to come.

Mobile-friendly, educational content

Videos, animations and infographics were used to ensure content was optimised for mobile viewing.

Offline functionality

With 4G unavailable inside many stadiums, content was made to be viewable offline so athletes could access it whenever and wherever they were training.

A personalised user experience

The Performance Parent app allows users to add custom notes to articles and set personalised push notifications to ensure they are reminded when new and relevant content is published.
