Atomic is a dynamic and forward-thinking software development agency which works with high-profile clients including the likes of JCB, Rolls-Royce and Center Parcs. The services we offer clients include technical planning & discovery workshops, product design, web / mobile / API development, cyber security and cloud infrastructure.
We are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Manager to head up our web team. This role involves guiding a skilled team of engineers toward their objectives and building strong relationships. It requires a strong grasp of technical problem-solving, the interpersonal skills to inspire and engage team members, and the ability to coordinate their work effectively. The thrill and challenge of being an engineering manager lies in balancing both realms of software engineering and management; you will be bringing together your technical expertise with leadership responsibilities.

Your responsibilities will encompass hiring, career progression planning, mentoring and coaching.
First and foremost you are a proactive problem-solver with a strong engineering background, committed to your team and the successful delivery of our client projects, ranging in size and complexity right up to large-scale enterprise level platforms. You have the ability to both inspire and make pragmatic decisions. You will want to remain hands-on and close to the codebase, but your primary emphasis will be on managing the team and setting it up for success.
In this role you will be working closely with our business and solutions teams, be responsible for hiring and career progression, working with our project teams to create exciting and engaging experiences across a wide variety of industries and domains. This is a pivotal role for us and we want people who are passionate about getting the best out of people in a technical environment.

Preferred Experience:
* At least 7 years of hands-on web engineering experience to ensure a strong technical foundation. This experience should ideally involve complex systems and knowledge of modern development practices
* Leadership Experience: 2-5 years of experience in leading or mentoring other engineers. This can include experience as a team lead, tech lead, or in a similar role that demonstrates capability in guiding others and managing projects
* 5 years of .NET experience preferred, plus competencies in other aspects of modern web engineering and process; Typescript, Angular/React/NextJS, SPAs, database technologies, cloud infrastructure, microservices

This position can be largely remote but our web team do come into our Nottingham office for one day per month, mainly as a team building exercise. We have a core of staff (engineers and non-engineers) who choose to work from the office more frequently, so you can of course come in more than one day per month if you wish!
